Week 1 Update

Our group chose to explore the world of New York beaches and rivers to better understand public perception and identify problems in the space worth solving. In Part 1, we focused on secondary research to learn more about our topic. From there, we identified key stakeholders to guide our primary research.

In our first week, our team met together to strategize. We estabished goals for the project and set a list of deliverables. Based on the instructions we wanted to do a deeper dive into our selected stakeholders. We brainstormed all of the different ways we could sub-divide our audience.

Above, you can see the final list we arrived to. We generally focused on those who experience NY rivers in some capacity and those who influence its policies. We also found really interesting individuals who were already working on projects to improve the conditions of the rivers. We set a targeted list of stakeholders to focus on and considered what research methods might get us the most information in return.

From here, we selected our research methods. We decided a survey would be best to reach a broad audience like ‘NY citizens’ while more targeted methods like interviews would be best for individuals like those listed above.

Our group divied up the work and set out to conduct our initial research, with an understanding that we would also be enjoying a nice Thanksgiving break before our deadline.

More to come! Stay tuned for Part 2 Week 2.
